Warning: Long and detailed review
Even though he isn’t a “leader” size and lacks a battle mask, this is the BEST Optimus Primal figure available.
Articulation:
The articulation in robot mode is impressive! You can achieve so many dynamic poses. However, in beast mode, the legs have limited articulation, particularly the feet. I wish they had included tilted feet for beast mode. Nonetheless, you can still create some cool poses with a bit of creativity. For instance, you can replicate that running pose where Primal charges into battle alongside Optimus Prime and the others (as seen in the image).
Scale:
Although he’s a Voyager scale rather than a leader scale, he fits in well with the others. He complements his Maximals, Autobots, and Terrorcons nicely.
Accessories (chains):
The accessories for this figure are enjoyable, especially the chains! While playing with him, it’s well-known that the chains can be used with Battletrap in robot mode, but they can also be applied in his vehicle form (though I wouldn’t recommend it as it looks a bit odd). HOWEVER, did you know you can use the chains with SS-102 OPTIMUS PRIME as well? Just fold his hands in and insert the chains into the small port, and you have Prime wielding the chains. You can create AMAZING AND DYNAMIC POSES. Imagine this happening in a live-action film; I think it’s an AWESOME IDEA! You can check out the photos I’ve taken of Optimus Prime using Primal’s chains.
Transformation:
The transformation from robot mode to beast mode is not overly complicated or stressful; it’s actually fun, complex, and straightforward once you get the hang of it. I do recommend pushing his ape fingers further down until they click in when transforming into robot mode.
Overall:
He is the BEST Optimus Primal figure out there! Get him before he becomes more expensive! I assure you, you won’t regret having him in hand. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS FIGURE if you’re looking for a fun and playable Optimus Primal!
