This game is fantastic! My 4-year-old absolutely enjoys it, and we’ve lost track of how many times we’ve played. It features four shops: a bakery, a minimarket, a greengrocer, and a news agent, each offering six products. Players take on the roles of both shopkeepers and shoppers, armed with a basket, plastic money (£1.5), and a figurine like Miss Baker or Mr. Greengrocer. Shopkeepers display their products while players draw from a facedown set to determine what they’ll buy next, including the shop and price. Each time a player passes the bank, they collect 20p. Then, it’s time to roll the dice and shop! The winner is the one who fills their basket first. It’s an excellent way for kids to learn about buying and selling, asking prices, using money, making change, and engaging in polite conversation. The only downside is that all shops and shopkeepers need to be in play; otherwise, if there aren’t four players, someone has to manage multiple characters and shops. It does take a bit of time to finish, but overall, it’s a wonderful game.

An excellent game for teaching them about money and numbers!

I bought this for my 5-year-old niece for Christmas, and we played it together on Christmas Day. It was a delightful game that kept everyone’s attention, including her 7-year-old sister. They love pretending to run shops at my house, whether it’s in the garden with watering cans and plastic pots or inside with food and jewelry. This game perfectly aligns with their interest in playing shops! I plan to have them bring it along when they visit. It’s a great way for them to learn about money and the different items sold in various shops. I highly recommend this game for my nieces!
