We have many Orchard Toys games at home, and my kids love them all, including Mucky Trucks! With my four-year-old starting school this year, this game has been incredibly helpful in reinforcing his number recognition, counting skills, color vocabulary, and essential listening and turn-taking abilities. We’ve seen a significant boost in his confidence with numbers over the past few weeks, and he now instantly recognizes the number he rolls.
Players roll the dice, move the friendly elephant the number of spaces indicated, and then ‘scrub’ clean the truck that matches the color they land on. This part is especially fun for them! They even engage in role play, pretending to clean their own trucks. If you land on a mud splat, you have to make one of your trucks muddy again, which is such a fun concept that both kids handle it well without any tantrums.
I initially thought it might be too simple for my seven-year-old, but she enjoys it as well because the gameplay is unpredictable and cleverly designed—one moment you could be close to winning, and the next, you have several mucky trucks again.
It was genuinely fun and exciting for us parents too (which isn’t often the case with many simple preschool games), and we’ve found ourselves playing it most nights after dinner this week. Overall, five stars—highly recommended!

Muddy Trucks has been a fantastic addition to our Orchard Toys collection. It’s a straightforward game to set up, featuring one elephant piece that moves around the vibrant board based on dice rolls and colored truck cards in front of each player. Its simplicity is quite clever, and my now 4-year-old grasped it quickly. Learning to take turns, handle losses, and embrace humility in victory have been transformative for us, thanks to Orchard Toys.
We began playing with our son a year ago when he was 3. Initially, he would throw tantrums when he lost and didn’t want to continue. However, we’ve stayed persistent, and now he can manage all those emotions (except for humility in winning—he tends to stand on the sofa, pose like Superman, and shout his victory to everyone). Playing games has become a joy.
With just one child, taking turns can be challenging, but games like this are excellent for developing social skills such as sharing. The idea of having your own cards of dirty trucks that need cleaning, accompanied by the phrase “Splish Splosh, nice and clean” while pretending to wipe them with the sponge card, has captivated my son and his friends. Even my husband, who usually has a very short attention span, quickly picked it up and stayed engaged for multiple rounds.
The games are quick and engaging for both adults and older children, as we often play with cousins who are 8 and 10. It also helps develop number and color recognition, making it great for preschoolers. This game is one of the simpler Orchard Toy offerings, making it suitable for ages 3-5.
One downside is that our car often ends up dirty because our son enjoys “cleaning” it by dragging a wet sponge over the grimy panels and hubcaps, then using the same sponge to “clean” all the windows while shouting “Splish, Splosh, nice and clean.” Grrrrr.
I would recommend this game to anyone with 3-5-year-olds, but be sure to keep your car and sponges well out of reach.

Fantastic little game! My 1 and 3-year-old both love playing it. It’s especially captivating for my older one, who is a big fan of vehicles. The quality is excellent, it’s vibrant, and overall, it’s a super fun game for the whole family.
