I’m a big fan of Melissa and Doug, and this product did not disappoint. It’s well-made, and my little one had a great time creating it. It was easy to assemble, requiring minimal supervision after some initial guidance. We’ve hung it in her bedroom window, and it’s been there for nearly three months without the suction cup failing. While it doesn’t catch the light (the inserts are a type of gel), it’s still beautiful to look at. I would recommend this for ages 4 and up (my daughter is 5); younger kids might find it a bit challenging. It makes an excellent gift because it looks high quality, is unique and interesting, and can be displayed once completed.

We are huge fans of Melissa & Doug products in our home, and I can honestly say I’ve never been disappointed with any of their items. They are always of excellent quality and often have an educational aspect as a bonus.
These sets allow your child to place stickers from the sheet onto the main frame to create their own stained glass effect window decoration. The pictures feature darkened raised lines outlining the sticker areas, and the stickers themselves are raised, resulting in a spectacular finished product.
The Butterfly design set includes a frame, a sticker sheet, a hanging cord, and a suction cup, providing everything your child needs to create their stained glass picture. The final design measures approximately 25cm by 21cm, making it a great size.
This set has a simpler sticker layout compared to older versions, as it now mimics the picture, making it much easier for younger children to complete independently. I have purchased several of these “stained glass made easy” sets in the past, including the Owl, Rainbow Garden, Race Car, Mermaid, Princess, Unicorn, and Undersea Fantasy versions, and they have all been beautifully designed and fun to make. I appreciate that they are now creating more gender-neutral options like the Owl, Safari, and Dragon versions, and I hope they continue to expand their designs as we are hooked!
Once finished, the stained glass pictures look fantastic on a wall, but they truly shine when hung in a window where the light can catch them. This set is perfect for a creative child or to brighten up a rainy day. I’ve included a few photos of completed sets along with images of this one.

I purchased this for my 5-year-old daughter as a Christmas gift, and it was just right. She needed very little assistance to complete the window. The pieces are well-organized, making it easy for children her age to comprehend. They come off the film easily and adhere well to the plastic. It kept her engaged for a whole afternoon and is still proudly displayed in her bedroom window—the finished product is visually appealing and catches the sunlight beautifully. While it is a bit pricey for a regular item, it’s definitely worth it as a special treat for Christmas.
