Review of DCeased: Gotham City Outbreak – Zombicide Board Game
If you’re a fan of DC Comics and enjoy cooperative board games, DCeased: Gotham City Outbreak is a fantastic addition to your collection. This game combines the thrill of battling zombies with beloved superhero characters, creating a unique and engaging experience. Here are my thoughts:
- Engaging Gameplay: The cooperative mechanics encourage teamwork, making it perfect for family game nights or gatherings with friends.
- Familiar Mechanics: If you’ve played other Zombicide games, the core mechanics will feel familiar, but with refreshing tweaks that enhance the gameplay.
- Diverse Heroes: With miniatures of iconic characters like Batman and Harley Quinn, players can enjoy a variety of strategies and playstyles.
- Unique Features: The addition of equipment cards allows for versatile gameplay, so you’re not limited to melee or ranged attacks alone.
- Fun and Accessible: The game is easier to set up and play compared to larger Zombicide versions, making it accessible for new players.
- Emotional Stakes: The inclusion of bystanders adds an emotional layer to the game; losing them has both a narrative and mechanical impact.
- Great for Solo Play: It’s a solid option for solo gamers, providing an enjoyable experience even when playing alone.
- High Replay Value: With the potential to combine with Marvel Zombies and upcoming expansions, the game offers plenty of replayability.
Overall, DCeased: Gotham City Outbreak is a delightful blend of strategy, teamwork, and beloved DC characters that brings a new twist to the Zombicide series. Highly recommended for both fans of the genre and newcomers alike!
Pauleo –
Incredible board game. More straightforward to set up and play than the full-sized Zombicide.
Robo1 –
DC character Zombicide offers a more affordable option featuring standee zombies and bystanders, while still including fully 3D plastic character miniatures. It’s a great way to try the game before the full miniatures edition comes out later this year. If you’re a fan of Marvel Zombies, you’ll find this game familiar and reliable.
Captain Mumbles –
A great compact experience for a hero-themed Zombicide game. It plays similarly to Marvel Zombicide, but introduces equipment that provides an extra method for your heroes to attack, allowing for more versatility beyond just melee or ranged options. The miniatures for the heroes and villains are excellent, and the standees are clear, which is a plus since I generally prefer to avoid standees.

I really enjoy the game! It has a slightly different playstyle compared to the traditional Zombicide, but I’m having a great time with it. I’m mostly playing solo, and it works really well for me!
