EXPERT SCORE
Experience an exciting race around the globe while enhancing your geography knowledge. Perfect for both kids and adults, this educational game is packed with fun facts and learning opportunities.
The World Game — How to Use (Beginners)
Quick overview
- Players: 2–5
- Recommended age: Kids 8+ and adults
- What you learn: flags, capitals, country locations and fun facts (cards hold over 1500 country facts; all 194 countries included)
- Language / edition: English (Standard Edition)
What’s in the box
- Game board featuring a world map and landmark spaces
- Country/trivia cards (flags, capitals, locations and facts)
- Player pieces / tokens and any movement markers
- Rule booklet (useful for official variant) — cards can also be used as flashcards or trivia
Setup (5 minutes)
- Unfold the board and place it on a flat surface.
- Each player picks a token and places it on the start space.
- Shuffle the country/trivia cards into a face-down deck and place near the board.
- Decide turn order (youngest first, roll a die, or mutual agreement).
- If you want shorter or longer games, agree on a winning condition up front (see “Winning” below).
Suggested beginner gameplay (easy, teacher-friendly)
- On your turn, draw the top card and read it aloud (or have another player read it).
- The card will ask for one of three things: point to or name the country on the map, identify the flag, or name the capital.
- If the active player answers correctly, move your token forward 1 space (or the agreed number).
- If incorrect, stay put and the next player takes a turn. Optionally let another player try for a “bonus” move.
- Continue taking turns clockwise until someone reaches the agreed finish (see next section).
Card types and how to use them
- Location cards — point to the country on the map. Great for visual learning.
- Flag cards — identify the flag or choose the matching country. Good for quick recognition.
- Capital cards — name the capital city for the country shown.
- Fact/trivia side — use for discussion, deeper learning or bonus questions.
Winning the game — choose one
- First to complete one full circuit of the board and cross the finish line.
- First to collect a set number of correct answers (for example, 10 correct cards).
- Timed finish — play for a set time and the player with the most correct answers or furthest along the board wins.
Beginner-friendly variants
- Team play: Pair up younger players with adults. Teams answer together to build confidence.
- Multiple tries: Allow a second guess before losing your turn for younger learners.
- Point system: Award 2 points for a perfect answer (location+capital), 1 point for partial; first to X points wins.
Use cards as flashcards or travel trivia
- Study mode: One player quizzes another using cards, then swap roles.
- Road-trip mode: Remove the board, take a small stack of cards and quiz while traveling.
- Classroom use: Use cards for quick group quizzes or as prompts for short country reports.
Tips for teaching and learning
- Repeat frequently — short games daily help memory retention.
- Use the fact side to spark conversation and curiosity, not just right/wrong answers.
- Mix easy and harder cards so beginners feel successful while being challenged.
Care and storage
- Keep cards in their box or a resealable bag to prevent loss and bending.
- Store the board flat to avoid creases.
- Keep the game in a dry place; avoid direct sunlight to prevent fading of cards and board.
